Liberty & Cybeta were asked to provide cyber advisory services for a global Private Equity firm and its portfolio of 60+ companies in 10 different countries. The initiative scope included a current-state assessment, documented target future state, and recommendations to remediate priority issues.

The Business Problem

A global PE firm with $14 billion AUM was in search of a strategic partner to baseline the cyber health of its companies and provide tangible recommendations to remediate priority issues and reduce the overall risk profile of its portfolio.

With various technology landscapes, regulatory constraints, and maturity levels present throughout the portfolio, the PE firm’s management team needed a way to evaluate each portfolio company against its own unique circumstances. Our team was engaged to conduct a baseline assessment in a measurable and objective, yet tailored manner to identify critical gaps and provide concrete recommendations on how to improve each company’s existing security posture.

Business Outcome

Liberty & Cybeta partnered with each individual portfolio company’s management team to understand their business and technology ecosystem. The baseline assessment framework included discovery in seven key areas: Governance & Strategy, Network & Infrastructure, Identity & Access Management, Application Security, Data Protection, Monitoring, and Resilience.

In addition to the baseline assessment, recurring checkpoints for each company are conducted at six-month intervals to capture updates and re-baseline the current state, validate future requirements, and document actions required to close the gap. This ongoing strategic partnership has resulted in measurable risk reduction and GP/LP portfolio investment protection for our client.
