Liberty was asked to help overhaul a centralized data and reporting program for a $400M revenue PE portfolio company in need of a holistic financial view of a highly acquisitive business. In addition, Liberty also worked closely with company leadership to deliver integrated program management and planning for the company’s transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform across their three divisions.
The Business Problem
Liberty’s client had been highly acquisitive in recent years leading to operations in several different technology operating platforms (ERPs). As a result, data had been federated and it had become extremely manual to consolidate, rationalize, and present accurate and holistic reporting to management in a timely manner. Simultaneously, an ERP consolidation onto a single NetSuite platform had experienced constant timeline delays and was negatively affecting the business from pursuing other strategic initiatives and acquisitions.
Liberty quickly mobilized to provide a current state assessment of the technical architecture and program governance. We then developed a path forward to accelerate and optimize the delivery of the ERP and data and reporting programs. We confirmed the need to overhaul the existing program governance and business processes to fast-track the flow of information and further automate key business functions allowing the company leadership to obtain a control tower view of the business and take advantage of improved decision-making.
Based upon our past experiences and leadership roles in successfully delivering technology strategy, enterprise transformation, and data and analytics programs, Liberty was able to organize and drive the delivery of 10+ new reporting layers, a Sales and Finance datacube for ad hoc reporting as well as get the remaining locations live on the new ERP so the future divisions and acquisitions could have a playbook for improved onboarding onto the central ERP. Programs that had no governance now had visibility to scope, resource constraints, and timeline so Leadership could drive as needed.
